SSE showcases industry-first Augmented Reality experience at COP26 (2021)
We partnered with major Summit partner SSE Energy Solutions to help them showcase a vision for a net-zero smart city, and present ‘the art of possible’ for decarbonising environments, by creating an interactive real-time 3D AR cityscape, made visible via smart devices throughout the 12-day event. Visitors to the SSE pavilion of all ages, from school children to ministers and members of parliament, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in an AR Event Experience that explains and teaches the about the future of power consumption, water and air flow and EV charging.
Nathan Sanders, Managing Director of SSE Energy Solutions’ distributed energy business, said:
COP26 has the potential to be a powerful platform for engaging with communities and people on the complex issues of climate change. Augmented Reality is an ideal tool to help visualise the sustainable energy systems and ‘whole system’ approach needed to meet these challenges.
The AR Event Experience featured within both the Green and Blue Zone pavilions, with SSE presenting both flat surface and wall mounted Augmented Reality projections. Backed up by a Web AR digital ‘take away’, delivered via QR code scan, SSE were able to extend their post event user engagement on mobile, to over 4 minutes.
